On the Soteria Vase, the floor mosaic dating to the 5th century AD, which was found in Antakya and is on display at the Antakya Archaeological Museum, is depicted. On the floor mosaic, understood to belong to a bathhouse, there is a bust of a woman, whose inscription suggests that her name is Soteria and is thought to represent “renewal”.

Antakya mosaics were built between the beginning of the 2nd century and the 6th century as the floor covering of churches, private residences and baths, and most of them were unearthed in the excavations around Antakya, Harbiye and Çevlik. Antakya mosaics, which are the continuation of the Hellenistic art tradition with their technical superiority, decorative and naturalist effects, provide information about the cultural habits and artistic taste of the society at the time they were made.

Soteria Vase is made of hand made amber colored glass. The glass surface on which the patterns were applied was covered with 24 carat gold gilding, the mosaic texture was applied to the gold-plated surface, and each piece of mosaic was hand painted with a special glass paint. Hand-made amber glass, mosaic patterned vase.

Its production is limited to 2000 pieces.
