Kubbealtı is a section reserved for Divan-ı Hümayun in Topkapı Palace, used by the Grand Vizier and other state officials in the Ottoman Empire, where state affairs are discussed and resolved.
Here, the Ottoman officials gathered, and most of the time, state affairs were discussed under the chairmanship of the grand vizier. The sultan would not attend the council personally, but would follow the meeting from a cage located just above the place where the vizier was sitting, and the interior of which is not visible when viewed from the Court.
The patterns on the Hünkar Sugar Bowl were created by interpreting the motifs on the sultan’s cage decorated with a gold grid.
Hünkar Sugar Bowl is made of handmade glass and all the relief patterns on it are handcrafted and decorated using 24 carat gold gilding.
Its production is limited to 2000 pieces.
