Five of the balustrade panels of Sivas Divriği Ulu Mosque with sovereign space were taken under protection in Istanbul Yenikapı Mevlevihane. While it is thought that the panels were burned after the fire in the Mevlevihane in 1997, it was determined that the panels were stolen. As a result of long studies, the panel in New York was brought to our country on 29 April 1999 and the panel in London on 9 May 1999.
Divriği Great Mosque and Hospital was built by Mengücekli Ahmet Şah and his wife Turan Melik in 1228-29. In the section where the eastern nave of the mosque meets the south wall, there is the sultan’s hall where the wooden panels belong. The wooden panels decorating the railing of the vault are made of walnut wood. In the panels, there are compositions consisting of palmette and rumi motifs emerging from a crescent with the openwork technique. Textures and smaller floral motifs are engraved on the floral motifs with the carving technique.
Divriği Sahan is designed with inspiration from floral motifs and borders in 3 wooden panels.
Divriği Sahan is made of handmade glass, all the relief patterns on it are decorated using 24 carat gold, glass paints and aging.
