Throughout history, pediments covering the forehead and nose area were made to protect the heads of horses in wars. However, it has been used as a splendor enhancer for horses in state ceremonies and military ceremonies. In European museums, there are a large number of Anatolian origin military tools that were seized from the siege and wars. Especially the Vienna Military History Museum draws attention because it contains the most Ottoman artifacts.
The patterns on the Çağatay Mini Horse Pediment were inspired by an Ottoman 15th century horse pediment with a tombak style workmanship, a unique example of Turkish art. The object has a composition created with rumi and special patterns. The work is exhibited today in the New York Metropolitan Museum.
All of the relief patterns on the Çağatay Mini Horse Pediment are handcrafted and decorated using 24 carat gold, leaf and antique paints.
